Letter From the Editor

While this Special Edition of High Maintenance contains a few new articles, the majority of them are reprints of articles I originally wrote for Doll Show Magazine.  Most were published in Doll Show's Fall 2002 issue, which many subscribers never received.  The unfortunate demise of Doll Show left me with numerous unpublished articles which were largely used to fill the first two issues of HM.  For over a year, I had planned to have my own magazine.  These unused articles helped me to get High Maintenance off the ground with much less effort than starting from scratch.

Even more important to me was telling the stories of the many artists who not only allowed me to interview them, but opened up their lives to me.  They were no longer just excellent repaint artists or clothing designers, they were real people with real lives and great personalities!  They let me "share" them with you.  Because they trusted me to tell their stories, I felt an obligation to make sure their stories were "printed."  While some were in fact printed a year ago, the articles never reached their entire intended audience.  While I had no control over who received their Doll Show issues (I was strictly writing on a volunteer basis), I do control over who can read the articles now that the copyrights have reverted back to me.

Because these were written over a year ago, with the cooperation of each artist, I have written a short update at the end of article, making them more current.

For those of you who have already read these articles, I've added a few new ones just for you!  I didn't want an issue composed entirely of "old news!"

In this issue, we also introduce "The Maxwells" by Marie Migliaro, our newest ongoing contributor!  Alexandra Forbes continues her "Hair Workshops" with a perm how to!  LeeAnn stepped up to the plate and let us see her private collection - when no one else wanted to be the first to follow Alexandra's Masterpieces!

Thanks to all our readers for their continuing support - we love those emails telling us how great we are!  Keep them coming! Lie if you have to!
